VLM Track of the Week • LEWN
'She' by LEWN is our track of the week from The VLM
LEWN are a London-based duo made up of brothers Jack and Patrick Lewin whose eclectic musical influences range from the golden era of hip-hop to DIY punk. Having been involved in music from an early age both brothers are classically trained with an intuitive approach to composition. Jack graduated from University with a first class Chemistry degree before making the life-changing decision to pursue a career in music and now studies at the world-renowned Abbey Road Studios. Patrick is also studying Audio Engineering at UWE in Bristol.
Using atmospheric guitar textures laced with haunting melodies LEWN form their own visceral soundscapes; taking inspiration from artists like Portishead, MF DOOM and Cigarettes After Sex. LEWN have been playing grassroots venues across London including Birthdays and Kamio and most recently have had a sold-out, headline show at Servant Jazz Quarters.
Their debut project She is a concept-piece focused around the narrative of a call girl. She illustrates the image of a young woman who has resigned herself to a routine of meaningless sex and drug-fuelled relationships. Using shadowy musical ideas and a lamenting vocal delivery, LEWN manage to transport listeners into their story,
LEWN’s debut EP She will be out on Friday 21st April via all digital outlets.
