Concept

Untitled document

Eur@dioNantes aims at taking part into the building of a common awareness of the diversity of European cultures, points of view and innovations. Eur@dioNantes wishes to develop a hub for European information that is broadcasted both on the web and on local radio.

Eur@dioNantes wants to show how closely European news and the daily lives of the Europeans can be related, thus putting the citizens of Europe at the heart of what goes on throughout their continent.

Our main concern will be to discuss European information, to talk about the local news from a European point of view, to advertise all the innovative projects in Europe nowadays and to give visibility to the emerging artistic creations all over the continent.

What makes Eur@dioNantes so unique is its journalists’ concern for discussing the local news from a pan-European point of view.
The Eur@dioNantes project was made to be reproduced in other cities abroad, so as to create an eventual network.

2. How it works : many European journalists gathered inside a local network

To create a hub for European information, you must always work with European journalists, because they are the first to see what is going on in their own countries.

The Eur@dioNantes team is composed of several young journalists who came from their countries to the training centre in Nantes. They are being coached by French professionals with loads of experience. For several months the whole newsroom have to create new ways of listening to European information. They have to immerse themselves into the local background and compare what they see and hear to the wider frame of European newsgathering so as to open new perspectives and consider the implications of what is happening, be it on the cultural, economical, social or political level.

Those young students in journalism are therefore lucky enough to be trained in a unique background, and they start their career in a dynamic European environment. Do you want to be an intern ?

Unpaid contributions :

The timetable leaves plenty of space for unpaid contributors who wish to support or enhance the project with their skills, their talent, their passion to share what they like or simply their motivation !
Those people, who have been in clubs or have some experience of the cultural or journalistic world, are able to make regular broadcasts on their points of interest, as long as it stays within the boundaries of the editorial guidelines. They reinforce the local dimension of the radio and help open its perspectives at the same time. Do you want to participate ?

Journalists from all over Europe

In order to enhance our coverage of European news, foreign journalists regularly come and join the team. Each of them is the editor for a week. All journalists are fully integrated into the Eur@dioNantes newsroom; then it is their turn to lead the team.
Each journalist brings new methods and better knowledge of the European media.

3. How the radio is broadcasted

- Through local radio

What makes Eur@dioNantes a really original project is that it already has a frequency among the local radios in Nantes. Therefore, the first media that broadcasts this European and local project is a classic radio waves, on 101.3 FM. The radio has started its broadcast in may 2007.

- The Web

The Internet gives the project its true international dimension. People are able to :

Listen to and download the broadcasts
The radio is aired on the web through streaming, but listeners are also able to download the broadcasts. The use of podcasts is a more innovative way of broadcasting information.
Several broadcasts are available in different languages.

View online articles and dossiers
The website is a mine of European information. The journalists try to go further into the subjects discussed in the radio reports in order to give more keys to understand what is going on in Europe. They are also able to find the sources for the music aired.
